 Traveling seminar - project Overview:

The aim of this “Traveling Seminar” is to deal with the questions of Anti-Semitism, prejudice and multiculturalism; to examine the differences in meaning regarding these concepts in relevant countries; and to study their changing impact on how Israel and Jews are perceived and how they are engaged in social and political processes.

The seminar will be held in the following format: Every few months, each member of the leading research institutes participating in the project will host a gathering in its country, that will address questions related to the seminar's topic that are relevant in his or her country.

The structure of the gathering will be adapted to the unique needs and characteristics of the institution and the community in which it operates. Each gathering will seek to provide a platform for local voices and ideas (from local experts and professionals in the field) regarding citizenship, identity and prejudice and perceptions towards Jews and Muslims in that particular country. Each gathering will be a round table event in which experts will share opinions and impressions regarding the topics; the experts’ presentations will then be followed by discussions between leading researchers. There is the option of a second day in which a public event related to the topic would be held in each institution; the event would be adapted in size to the nature of the hosting institution.

Material collected during the gatherings and the discussions would be arranged in the form of a book written and edited jointly by the leading researchers.
